A Postcard from Montreal

This is a postcard which was franked on March 16th, 1909. I bought it for a dollar at a Canadiana fayre in Bracebridge and it is an endearing part of someone's personal history to have in my guardianship.

The postcard is reassuring in a way, someone else felt a long way from those they loved (and had to deal with an intense winter . . .)

The postcard reads:

Dear Ruby,

I send you a line to let you know I am still alive. I read your card at Xmas and should be ashamed of myself for not answering before. Mother has been very poorley [sic]. We are having dreadful weather here it is snowing hard. [Here they run out of room but squeeze in:] Remember me to all from . . .

Like some sort of Poirot mystery the name is illegible. I'm pretty sure it starts with an S - I wonder about the rest of the story?
